Philly Sandwich for Presidents Day

Happy President's Day

Today we aren't having a Monday Music Moment.  Instead we are going to celebrate our country, the men who were courageous to stick out their necks on the future (US! meaning all of us living today in America!), and food from their part of the country.

Above is a Philly Steak Sandwich.  Oh, be still my heart.

This is not a recipe to enjoy often, because of a whopping 700+ calories per serving (and you know you want 2 of them).

But a few times a year works well, especially on holidays like today.

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp. oil
1 pound london broil, sliced thin
1 red and orange pepper, sliced thin
4 oz. mushrooms
1 onion, sliced thin
1-2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
6-8 slices of provolone cheese
6-8 hoagie buns, toasted

Put oil and onions in skillet, cook until caramelized. Remove from skillet.  Cook peppers until done.  Remove from skillet. Cook mushroom until done.  Remove from skillet. Cook steak until done.  Add Worcestershire sauce until it makes a gravy.  Add vegetables back to skillet and leave on low.

Toast hoagie buns.  Put meat/veggie mixture on buns with a slice of provolone.  Oh, heavens, take each bite slowly and savor the taste!
