What is General Conference for Mormons?

Every 6 months members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints ALL around the world get together and watch their general leaders give sermons.  It lasts 2 days, with a total of 10 hours of sermon time.  Whew!  But it's the best 2 days of every 6 months.

Who are our leaders?  We have a modern  day prophet.  Yes, a prophet like Moses, Noah, or Jeremiah.  He has been called of God to lead and guide us.  Our prophet today is Thomas S. Monson.

We also have 12 Apostles.  They are also called of God.  Not elected, not picked by man, not self-appointed, but called from God.  They don't choose to do this job.

Our church is patterned after the original church set up by Christ himself.  Since 1830, Christ restored his Church on the earth again.  Please come and join us today to listen to a prophets voice.

Jon Schmidt- from the Piano Guys

We had an amazing chance to see Jon Schmidt from the Piano Guys play and speak tonight.  He is a gentle, soft-spoken soul, who has a big spirit, obviously he speaks through his music.

He played 4 songs: his version of All Creatures of our God and King, Waterfall  and a tribute to his sister (all his own composition), All of Me, and an amazing arrangement of Onward Christian Soldiers!

It was an uplifting evening.  The best part was when my 11 year old son (who's taken piano for only 3 years) told me he wanted to meet him.  We waited an hour to meet him and Mr. Schmidt was so gracious.  He let Pierce measure hand spans.  Jon Schmidt's fingers were about 1/2" longer than mine, and I have very long fingers.  He also fist bumped me because I'm a piano teacher!!

AWESOME Night! My kids were so excited to meet him.  This is what leaving a legacy is about- giving your kids something to dream about.

Everett Herald Newspaper- WhoLives for Water Benefit Concert

I really have learned a lesson- call your newspaper and do it often.  They really want to know what is going on in your community.  They are so willing to help and so easy to work with.

This is a well-done article about WhoLives, Reagan's efforts for the benefit, and the many, many other people involved to bring about this fundraiser!  I want to thank them all.

Choose Happiness

Isn't this the coolest poster and quote?  I absolutely LOVE it!  It's now my fav- in fact, I could put a huge 8x10 foot of this on my wall.

First I have to say I think this is true.  Do you?

I mean God made this beautiful earth....because he wants us to be miserable?  No, he sent us HERE, on this incredible earth he made for US, so we can have JOY!  It's simple.  But, you say, so many horrible things happen to people all over the world.  True, but is that God's doing.  Not usually:  people do those things to each other.  We can choose happiness;  and when we believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ- choosing to be happy no matter what- makes it so much easier.
